What is the E-Media License?
The E-Media License (also called a content-creator or influencer licence) is the official permit that lets you legally create monetised media content in the UAE. It's regulated federally by the UAE Media Council, with licence routes also available through free zones such as DMCC in Dubai and twofour54 in Abu Dhabi.
Who needs one?
Anyone monetising content in the UAE — paid posts, sponsored Stories and Reels, affiliate links, brand deals, and venue partnerships. If money or value is exchanged for content, you're expected to hold a licence.
Why it matters
A licence legitimises you with venues, brands and agencies — most will ask to see it before signing paid work. Operating without one can result in fines (commonly cited up to AED 5,000) and can jeopardise brand relationships.

Do I need a licence for gifted or unpaid collaborations?+
Gifted/unpaid work is lower-risk, but any paid or commercial activity (sponsored posts, affiliate income, brand fees, venue partnerships) is expected to be licensed. When money or value is exchanged for content, get licensed.
How much does it cost?+
Fees vary by route and free zone and change over time. Check the official portals linked above for current pricing — the UAE Media Council and u.ae cover the federal route, while DMCC and twofour54 publish their own creator packages.
Which route should I choose?+
It depends on your situation and emirate. Free zones like DMCC and twofour54 offer creator-specific packages and can be quick to set up; the UAE Media Council is the federal authority. Compare requirements and fees on the official sites before deciding.
Does SCNE issue or process the licence?+
No. SCNE does not issue, process, or sell licences and is not affiliated with these authorities. We point you to the official sources and let you record your licence on your profile so venues and brands can verify it.
Can I use SCNE before I have a licence?+
Yes. You can build your creator profile and apply for unpaid / gifted collaborations right away. Add your licence number once you have it to unlock paid work.
